August 16, 2010 – West Palm Beach, FL – A motorcycle driver was killed and his passenger critically injured in an August 18th crash involving a pickup truck in West Palm Beach.
The Sun-Sentinel reports that 30-year-old Arturo Gomez was riding with passenger Kathryn George, 24, on his Honda motorcycle Wednesday evening. The pair came to the intersection of North Military Trail and Community Drive where Gomez attempted to make a U-turn.
A Toyota pickup truck driven by Anthony Miller, 52, struck Gomez’s bike in the intersection even though the light was red at the time. The force of the impact threw the motorcyclists from their bike and onto the road. Neither victim was wearing a helmet and Gomez was pronounced dead at the scene.
George was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm in critical condition while Miller was uninjured. Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the crash and possible charges are pending.
