July 13, 2010 – Pembroke Pines, FL – Investigators are trying to determine what caused the crash involving two teens riding on an ATV in Southwest Ranches early Monday evening.
16-year-old Enrique Rodriguez was driving an ATV with Daniel Perez, also 16, as a back passenger. Neither teen was wearing a helmet when the ATV slammed into a wooden utility pole. The first BSO deputies to arrive on the scene found Perez laying on the ground.
Perez was airlifted to Memorial Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Rodriguez was not injured, and now sheriff’s deputies are trying to determine if Perez fell off the vehicle or if he leaned out and hit his head.
