2 West Palm Children and 2 Adults Injured in Haverhill Road Crash

August 27, 2010 – West Palm Beach, FL – A father and his 2 children are recovering after an early morning crash with a sleeping driver. 

Reports from The Palm Beach Post say that 28-year-old Shazadd Hussain was driving his gold Honda Accord with his 2-year-old daughter and 6-year-old son, as well as passenger Perzhette Jones, 19, when they were struck by a gray Honda Accord. 

The gray Accord was driven by 22-year-old Wade Harris who told West Palm Beach Police he fell asleep while driving. The car accident occurred on August 15th near the intersection of Haverhill Road and 45th Street. Harris’ car crossed the center line and hit Hussain’s vehicle head on. 

All passengers in Hussain’s car sustained injuries. Hussain received treatment on the scene while his other 3 passengers were taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center. The children suffered broken legs and other injuries, but police say their injuries did not appear to be life-threatening. Jones’ condition was unknown at time when he was transported. 

No charges have been filed, but the car accident is still under investigation. 

According to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles’ 2009 Traffic Crash Statistics Report, there were 197,214 traffic crashes resulting in injury and 2,563 fatalities as a result of vehicle accidents in Florida.
